The Mission Statement of the Tiger Kloof Learners
We, as the Tiger Kloof Learners, are prepared to undertake our share of responsibilities in the school.
We commit ourselves to:
equipping ourselves with knowledge and life skills necessary for our Physical, Mental and Spiritual growth
nurturing a culture of stewardship
grow to be individuals who will serve in their respective communities
create a culture of tolerance and courtesy
set good examples with what we do and how we behave
Our determination and dedication to these values will enable us to fit into the tapestry of Tiger Kloof at large.
Rise Up Again!
The Tiger Kloof Song, 1999.
We have come through the night Now we stand in the morning light Behind us lie tears of pain God has spoken: “Rise up again”!
CHORUS
Rea go leboga Rea go leboga Rea go leboga, Modimo wa rona
Memories always last Ours the dignity of the past Rebuild walls, rebuild pride That faith and hope and love abide
CHORUS
Voices speak from the grave: “Stand up children! Be strong, be brave. Hold today in your hand, For the future of this land.”
CHORUS:
(The chorus is in Setswana. It means: We thank you God).
Tiger Kloof, South Africa ,1999.
Round Square Prayer
Skin of different shades, Eyes that are witnesses of different histories, Mouths that profess differing beliefs, Faces etched with the lines of different pains, Faces displaying the light of different joys, Faces created in the image of your face, oh God, Faces created through you, And faces loved by you.
Let us put aside our differences And let us be your eyes to see Your ears to listen Your mouth to speak Your feet to stand And your hands to act.
So that, above all else oh God, your face can be seen in our faces.
Amen
The Tiger Kloof Song
We have lived through incredible times. We have observed changes that we could only dream about. We have seen things that our parents and our children will not. We have stood in the void at the very moment of creation.
But more than this, we have been graced to actually be embodied in the resurrection itself. We have set stone upon stone. We have seen buildings rise. We have shaken hands with people who smile. We have heard new songs and deep prayers. This is indeed a new creation.
To be this close to the power of God, which creates light out of darkness, is beyond comprehension. That we should have been chosen to be here with time and talents at our disposal, is hidden in God’s mystery. We are truly privileged. In humanity we give praise. In joy we sing: “Rea go leboga, Modimo wa rona”. We give thanks, O God.
For this moment of resurrection, I have written this song. I dedicate it to all who, in the power of the resurrection, rise up to be the people that God invites us to be.
