
EXCHANGE STUDENT INFORMATION
1. What is expected from an Exchange Student?
You are expected to abide by the rules of the school and to work in a manner expected from you. The school board and management will not accept any breaking or bending of the rules. A Good role model is what you are expected to be. You are also expected to participate in all aspects of the school. This includes participating in one sport anctivity and one cultural activity. Please be aware that Tiger Kloof is very different from the school that you are coming from. Rather look at this as an opportunity to learn about different cultures and the way of life of people around here. Try as much as you can to make this experience enjoyable for yourself and those who you will be coming into contact with.
You will be allocated a tutor, whom you can talk to if the needs arise. Also the boarding managers are there in case you need anything. The exchange coordinator will see you once a week to ensure that your visit is a fruitful one.

As long as your card has a Visa or Master Card sign on it, you are able to withdraw money from any ATM.
4. Medical Insurance
Vryburg has doctors of high quality, in case you might need medical attention. However it is your responsibility to ensure that you take out a medical insurance cover. Regarding any medical emergencies, contact your boarding manager, who will then make the necessary arrangements.
5. Food
All meals are provided in the dining hall. The only times meals are not provided are on leave weekends and during holidays. You are expected to be at all meals, except on days you are unable to as a result of other arrangements. Ensure that you inform your boarding manager of these.
6. Water
The water from the taps is drinkable.
7. Laundry
You may bring your laundry to Mrs. Top on Mondays and Thursday. You may collect your laundry on Wednesdays and Sundays 17h00. Otherwise, you may choose to do laundry as the other learners do.
8. Getting Around
Tiger Kloof is situated 12 km from Vryburg therefore transport into town can be a problem. If you need to go into town, please make the necessary arrangements with your boarding manager.

Summer months: August to March-they also bring brief but refreshing afternoon
Thunder showers. Vryburg has an above average rainfall of 300-
700 mm annually. Temperatures range between 22 and 34 degrees celcius. Also the weather can be hot and dry.
Winter Months: May to July. Temperatures can range from an average 2 to 20 degrees in a single day.
10. What to bring
· School Uniform.
· Travel pack, more practical than a suitcase for school camps, weekends away and longer excursions.
· All the other essentials that one needs when traveling.
· Our supermarkets are well stocked of things you might need for everyday use.
11. Valuables
You may store your valuables in the school safe. Please make sure that you do no leave your things lying around, as this causes a security risk. Look after your belongings. Passports, air tickets, cameras, etc and money should be stored in the school safe. If you need to use them, you can always go to retrieve them.
